Earth and sky, woods and fields, lakes and rivers, the mountains and seas, don’t we see the manifestation of God in each and every one of His creation. So is God really silent?? Or has He spoken through things innocent and pure and angelic and exemplary?? Far beyond misery, far beyond happiness, beyond every object of senses, beyond imagination, its spelled in nature, its spelled in all things good and pure, you can hear its echoes through the valleys and dales, you can feel the hint of its presence in your very soul, you can its reflection in the eyes of an innocent child, you can feel its reverberation in the wind that exhilarates us. He is everywhere. The heart feels what it wants to feel and the eyes see what they want to see. There are millions of signs for us, waiting to be deciphered. Layers of hidden meaning in everything, if only we possess the will to find the answer. For the answer lies within our question, “Is God silent or has he spoken”? You wander from room to room hinting for the diamond necklace that is already around your neck. When you lose all sense of self, the bonds of a thousand chains vanish, lose yourself completely and return to the root of your own soul, keep your eyes open, your passion burning, then and only then will you be able to find what you are searching for, hear what you want to hear for god is silent because God has spoken. I looked in temples, churches and mosques. But I found the Divine with in my heart. Like Rumi said, “I searched for God and found only myself. I searched for myself and found only God”. Stop the noise and you will hear His voice in the silence “God uses silence to teach us to use words responsibly. He uses tiredness so that we can understand the value of waking up. He uses illness to underline the blessing of good health.
God uses fire to teach us about water. He uses earth to explain the value of air. He uses death to show us the importance of life.” It is Impossible for a 2-D object to contemplate a 3-D human. Similarly it’s impossible to find a Metaphysical, logical, empirical, subjective argument to actually prove that yes, God exists, that yes God has spoken. Has he not spoken through the beauty of the forest that makes a claim on man’s heart? That quality of air that emanation from trees, that renews the soul? The sight of stars that make you dream?? If only we could hear what the wind whispers to our souls. He is a force contained in every imaginable phenomenon. It’s self-evident. One thirsts and there exists water to quench this thirst, one hungers and there exists food to satisfy his hunger, one yearns to hear God speak and he can find Him in all that is around him. Believing in chaos, actually brings the chaos to us. God has not spoken?? Then what is it that we see all around us?? Are not we, ourselves an embodiment of God? “Perhaps the silence speaks more loudly than speech”. Every walk through nature has the potential to inspire a deeper connection with our Creator. “We shall show them our signs within the furthest horizons and inside their own souls until it becomes clear”. At the time when the Qur’an was revealed, people thought the world was flat the Qur’an also mentions every living thing is made of water. The Qur’an speaks about hundreds of things that were not known to men at the time of its revelation. That is God speaking. God has given us a life catalogue in the form of Quran, we have all the instruction we need. All we need to know, to hear, to seek, it’s already in the world that the Lord has created for us. Can’t expect to know the answers in exam without studying now do us? Can’t hear God till we delve deep into our souls, rummaging into our souls, getting lost in our very own selves, answering our questions as we find them buried deep
Inside our own selves. For that is really where we find the answer to everything in the Universe. For deep inside is where God has spoken. Deep inside, in the folds of silence lies what we need to hear.
What’s lying there to be found?
